Help me out fellows! I recently purchased a CZ P-07 Compact. It's the same basic size as the P229, only a little thinner and lighter, and actually easier to shoot for me. Both are excellent pistols, but right now I'm thinking one has to go. Confused as usual, what else is new! Both pictured below.
My choice would be the SIG P229, but if you shoot the CZ P-07 better, that is the one I would keep. CZ makes some nice pistols for sure. I haven't shot all that many, but I must say with the ones I have shot, the double action trigger pull of the stock triggers did not impress me. Some like the option of carrying the DA/SA CZ cocked and locked, which is a possibility with some versions. If I wanted to do that, I would choose a single action only pistol.
Can't say I agree. I liked the feel and pointability of the CZ better. Bore axis made even the lighter gun faster in my hands (9mm, for both) and the weight is certainly a consideration in the summer for me, I hate heavy guns in the summer.
I've owned the Sig for over 4 years now without a hiccup. No doubt it's a heavy gun and easy to shoot well, just lacks the ergonomics of most CZs. I have five mags, a Sig canvas zipper bag, a Bianchi Accumold leather holster, and a Streamlight TLR-7 rated at 800 lumens. On second thought, maybe I should keep it!
Do you "slingshot" when racking the slide or do you use the hand over slide technique? If you rack hand over slide the Sig gives you more real estate to grip and doesn't have any levers or controls to ram your thumb into while racking the slide.
Does the rear sight on the CZ give you enough "bite" to rack the slide on a belt or holster if you are forced to rack the slide one handed?
Are you accustomed to the controls on the Sig and have them ingrained in muscle memory? If yes, realize they are reversed on the CZ.
