I've been thinking about this pistol for carrying and am looking for a mid size. lighter weight handgun. Any opinions pro or con about this Sig. Hopefully some comments from Sp2022 owners. Thanks Guys. :)

I've been pondering buying one myself. It looks and feels like a very
nice gun. Academy Sports has them for $399.99.

I have a SP2022 in .40 S&W and I love it. The only thing that I didn't like right out of the box was the guide rod. It was plastic and didn't feel very reliable, personal feeling and preference. I'm sure the factory one, (being that it IS a SIG), would have held up just fine, but I went ahead and ordered a bead blasted stainless steel one from Wayne Feaser out of Pennsylvania. I'm glad I did, for such a small part I felt the increased rigidity of my gun. The bad thing about this gun, in my area where I live, is the availability of it as far as being in stock where you can actually get your hands on it and feel the gun. Not too many dealers have them, I guess the 250 was such a huge let down to most sig fans as a polymer gun that most dealers dont carry the sig pro guns, which is sad because it is actually a good gun. I was weary about getting night sights because I didn't know how good that they would be but I'm glad I paid the extra $60 because they are definitely worth it hands down. I paid $460 for the gun and the stainless guide rod was $28 shipped and I have the best EDC I have ever felt confident and comfortably carrying. 12 rounds in a .40 made by SIG what more could you ask for... If you are considering an alternative to this polymer gun that your local dealer is likely to carry, check out the FNHerstal FNX in .40 it's a great gun for about the same money too!

They do seem nice. I've not been much of a Sig or polymer fan, but the more I look at this pistol, the more I like it.

i enjoy them
it's like the 229 but lighter....pretty loose tolerances imo so it functions well. recoil feels good....it's a sig after all....so it's a good firearm.
sights and sight picture have a little to be disired for me....have you looked at the fn's idk if it's the fnp or x
look at those before you decide

Sig

Hello guys,

I took the plunge a couple of days ago. Ordered a LEO trade-in from Summit Gun Brokers. Mass. State Police Sig 2340 (.40) Should be able to pick up from my FFL on Wednesday.

I know, it is a poly, but my first Sig. With any luck the state armorer kept it up well. One thing (to me) that is really cool, is that all you need to convert to .357sig is a different barrel. Slide , mags, everything else stay the same.

Will let you know when it gets here.

Well, I'm 56 and a newbie at handguns and shooting. My one and only handgun is a Sig SP2022 in 9mm. Got it last fall when prices were still down on gunbroker.com ($365 w/ shipping & FFL fee). I have nothing to which I can compare it (other than my father in law's Glock 19 & 21 - couldn't shoot either one well a number of years ago), but I enjoy it so far. It shoots better than me, as the saying goes. It fits fits well in my hand and points very naturally for me. Recoil is very manageable. The trigger is outstanding, especially in SA. Takedown is a bit of a pain, having to push the pin out from the side. It does get a little easier after a number of times. I have yet to be able to get the backstrap off to see if the other one fits me better. My thumb can't push hard enough on the little tab inside the magazine well to make it move. Oh well, like I said earlier it fits well so I'm not going to worry about it. Didn't like that it came with only one magazine. I found some at a dealer in Chicago for $20 each. I really need to get out to the range and shoot more!

I will definitely give it thumbs up. I hope you get a chance to get some range time with one. I think it will close the deal for you.

As an end note, when I was leaving the range the first time after shooting, the range master commented "nice gun" and I could tell that he meant it.

I have the 9mm SP 2022

And I really dont like it that much....I much prefer a 92fs or older alloy Ruger
I have shot the .40 and its hard to control for me....I just dont like poly pistols much
The 2022 was my first and my last one

Just wanted to ask? Have you tried the CDNN Beretta 92f Centurion Clones? $299. I am in amazement of mine for the price I paid. I do not want to sound like an advertisement for them, but man...for the money they are great pistol.

They shoot much better than I do. It is like a half price Beretta.

I own a 2022 in 9mm and it's my daily carry. Small enough to CC but still big enough to feel like a real gun. Cheap enough to carry everyday and not worry about banging up too. They shoot very nice to boot.

I could never get it off that way either.

I use the hollow tube of a screwdriver that uses removable tips (I remove the tip) and use the frame as leverage. I also cover the frame with electrical tape when doing that as to not mar it. I push in with the tube to release the tab and then use the tube to lift it up a little bit and then I can just pull it off. A flat head screwdriver would probably work also or a wooden dowel rod. If you use a screwdriver cover the tip with electrical tape to reduce marring on the tab. This picture will explain it better. I hold the grip with my other hand while doing this but it does not show in the picture because I had to hold the camera!

Thanks sigarms228! I thought about doing that, but being my first and only, I was afraid of damaging it. I'll give it a try!
