I recently sent my first generation trailside into sig for service. After reading many sites online, I realized I wasn't the only one having troubles with an early Trailside. Rounds would nose dive and jam, cases would be left in the chamber and fail to extract multiple times. The slide wouldn't lock open on the last shot--only manually.

Sig customer service was wonderful! I was issued an RA and told I would be reimbursed for shipping. My pistol was back within 1 week.

My service document indicates that Sig cleaned the pistol, replaced the slide stop, replaced the slide, and test fired 30 rounds.

I'll ring it out more this weekend to see if everthing is fixed, but at this point I am impressed.

One thing not listed on the document--Sig replaced both of my original mags with new magazines--thank you!

This is one of my "Fun" guns. When I want to plink or only have room to take a few guns to the range, this one always makes it. Hopefully it will be perfect now.

Just wanted to share my experience,

I have one of the newer models. had 3 malfs in the first 20rnds, but after that it's been 1000+rnds without any problems. I have the Target Comp. All I have done as far as cleaning since the initial cleaning was to use a qtip and clean the feedramp and use the Patch Worm to clean the bore. Still running like a champ.

Don't know which of us got the better deal. They didn't offer to pay shipping on mine. It took about 5 weeks to come back, but I got a brand new gun. Only the grips were the same.

I must admit, I'd heard about the new guns and hoped I might get one. Oh, well. This one shoots so accurately (it's only the 4" basic model) that I'm happy.

I've got an Ultradot on it and use it for plinking and bowling pins. I really like it much better than the rugers and brownings I've owned and played with.

I'll test it this weekend and maybe post some pics of targets and the pistol

I have a five year old trailside that I bought used about a year ago. I had problems with failure to feed, eject, double tap, and the plastic piece kept falling off the front of the gun when I shot it. It also had a bad gouge in the slide at the slide stop.
I called Sig and and spoke to a customer service rep [Ed]. He said to send the pistol to them, and they would check it out. I sent it to them, and about three weeks later I got it back. Was I ever surprised. They just about built me a new gun, complete with adjustable sights and a new mag.
My hat is off to their repair shop, and to their customer service dept. These people are a credit to their company. The pistol works flawlessly now. The total cost to rebuild the pistol-not a penny. What more could anyone ask for? Top notch repair, top notch service, from a top notch company.
good luck, and be safe.

Fan,
Actually for me it's sort of a mixed blessing. While the Sig was misbehaving I picked up a Mk II stainless 5 1/2 bull barrel and I'm not sure I don't like it better. Trigger's not quite as good but after some work it's close. Shoots everything and I think I like the balance better. I've been hesitant to shoot the Sig yet thinking if I decide not to keep it I might get a little more for it being new.
