Don't know if this has been around here yet, but looks like a good deal for those guys who are affiliated with any military or federal agency.

$609 for a new P220 or P229 is a steal.

wow!
is this for the p220R and p229R models?

that's a total bargain. when i get one used in exc+ for 525 I think i've gotten a good deal - 609 for NIB direct from sig is practically a giveaway.

I hate to belabor the obvious, but is this offer for current or former military members, or am I misreading it entirely?

If I'm reading it right, hot damn! I'm gonna get me a 220 in .45ACP!

As I read it, it applies to current military (active, reserve, and retired) and any other fed agency. I think no tax unless you live in NH.

Holy cow, night sights are standard!

Affiliated... I work for a GSA provider... could I tweak that for "affiliated" to apply to me.. I mean I test gear that keeps people in the military supplied with power...

???

It says officer on the website - I have a buddy in Iraq right now that will be coming back soon and wanting to get a SIG. Will he be able to use this if he is only a non-com?

just no federal excise tax (whatever that is).

excise tax is a nice way of saying "hey you spent your hard earned money on something shiney and expensive. we want a bigger cut of your money!"

bigred- as far as I can tell your buddy will be fine, I'm an NCO (reserve) and I can't see anything that would prevent me from using this. If you are worried about it you could call Sig and ask, otherwise in military tradition: the less you ask, the better things work.

The program is open to current fulltime, reservist and retired personnel authorized under law to carry a firearm.

That's pretty wide open, and there are quite a few models you can choose from too!

Yes, where it lists documents to include, it lists current and "retired" IDs as being acceptable.

My question is, are these prices cheaper than their direct dealer FFL prices? I have an FFL guy (who is a direct Sig dealer) that places orders for me at his cost + a $20 transfer fee.

Perhaps this deal is for the rest of us who don't have an FFL selling us guns at cost.

I don't think it will be a problem either, at least Sig's former similar program for special operations personnel did not differentiate between officers and enlisted/NCOs.

Now, if Sig does have a program that excludes us working folk to only share toys with the Zeros, I think a massive boycott is in order :)

Former and retired are not the same thing. You are issued a special ID if you have retirement benefits. Former service members who didn't put in their don't have that card.

I wonder if "any other federal agency" includes non military ones? You know, Bureau of the Census, Food & Drug Administration, NASA, US Forest Service, etc.

I fall under one of the above categories (not sayin' which) and would love to take SIG up on this deal. To make things even more confusing, I also hold an honorable DD214, but due to # of years served I'm NOT a retiree. Well, at least not yet :p I'm just a full time fed who changed horses in mid stream :p

I just completed my order for a P239 DAK 2-tone 9mm. Those prices even reflect a jump of $50 in July (they were even less), and they changed it from "2 per order" to "2 per lifetime." Still a smokin deal if you want a NIB gun. You can even get guns through that program that they don't normally make - i.e. a full size 220 two tone DAK with no rail. You'd think I'd already looked into that or something!!

And yes, I'm sure the order applies to sweaties :neener:, too. The program is called "officer" but the order form just says "military." An E-7 is the one that turned me on to the program in the first place.

:D Have DD214, will travel. You don't need to be retired or reserve!

Now I just need to convince my wife that this is a really good bargain. Unfortunately she's a Springfield XD nut.

Good deal...

But, because SIGs are reportedly such durable guns, etc., wouldn't a $450 refurbished and warranteed/certified gun be a 'better' deal? (Unless you must have 'new'. $600+ is still a lot of cash.

Friday, 14 September: My order form with all the required documents goes out with the afternoon (Priority) mail.

Monday, 17 September: My order arrives at Sig in NH and they bill my credit card

Wednesday, 19 September: Dan from Mary’s Pistols calls to tell me my Sig Revolution 1911 has arrived.

I was expecting to wait the four to eight weeks as mentioned on the order form, so this is a pleasant surprise. Well, I have no shortage of sick hours I can use, so it looks like I’m going home early.
:)
