Sigh, Waiting for the uppers blues :(

Well, six weeks ago I ordered a great 6.5G upper from Texas Gun Builders (don't buy anything from them). Recently I had the bank recind my order because I could not get ahold of them. I placed new orders with The Grendel Hunter for a long range upper and also ordered an Aero M4E1 upper for hunting.

So, six weeks later and I'm still waiting for an upper ... what a downer

Been there, done that. Got my 6.5G upper from Radical Firearms years ago and it was a 5 or 6 week wait but they warned me up front. Great rifle; very accurate.The only down side to it is finding ammo. Mostly shoot reloads.

Sorry to hear you got the run around from your first builder.

I’m waiting on a Knights Armament SR-15 that is on backorder. We’ll see how long it takes to get filled.

This is why I build my own. I got tired of “in stock” meaning that they had parts on hand to build the item, then taking their sweet time on getting it shipped out. Now I piece everything together online and order the parts to build myself when possible. The very least I would consider anymore is a phone call to the shop and have them verify an assembled upper was ready to ship, then place my order. You get the runaround from builders, but typically not from part retailers.

This is also why I do not trust gun smiths or engine builders. I've just know too many people that send there stuff off to whomever where it sits for 2 years while they twittle there thumbs wishing they could go racing if only someone wasn't holding there engine hostage. If I can't do it myself I don't want it.

Stagarms has a plethora of uppers for nice prices; wait for a sale, they're coming every week. They've delivered within 7-10 days in the past. I think what you're finding is the difference between someone who makes them and has them on hand and a company that builds it to order, or at least waits till each order to build.
