Does anybody know how to remove the sight hood from a Marlin lever action, such as an 1894 or 336? I can tell that it's some sort of spring steel that clamps on tightly, but I don't know how to pry it off without damaging the hood or the front sight. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

Like the man said, bump it forward. the ramp sides are grooved and the hood rims that slide in there have a bulge to em that locks in the ramp groove on each side. A little outward pressure on the hood walls will help it pop free.
