Sight Options & an Ishapore 2A

I picked up a very nice Ishapore 2A from a friend the other day. Makes for an interesting difference from my Mausers, to be sure

That said, there is an thick coat of black paint over the rear sight, preventing any adjustment. I'm pondering three options:

1) Simply cleaning the paint off the stock rear sight and using it.

2) Cleaning the rear sight & then putting it in the gun safe while using a Mojo Microclick aperture sight http://www.mojosights.com/MicroClick.html

3) Cleaning the rear sight & then putting it in the gun safe while using rear sight base scout mount for a red dot sight. I don't much like optics, but a 1x red dot might be interesting to try.

I don't want to do anything to permanently modify the rifle or even alter it's looks very much but I'd like a somewhat more usable sight set up than a black paint 80 meter battle sight

How I did it was like this, your V-notch is held on with a screw right, remove that & cut a piece off one of these & mount where the V was, then mount your Holo-Sight. It will take some work, you got to flatten your mount I did mine on a belt sander & make sure it sets tight in where the V-notch set

It looks like this, though I'd be more inclined to put a moderately priced red dot on it.

I'd buy the Williams aperture sight they make for the Enfield, and take off the tangent sight altogether. Sure you have to drill the receiver, but it gives you the type of sights that rifle deserves! It is a great rifle... no point in holding it back with crappy sights. If you get a mojo, you will still have crappy short sight radius.

Then what the hell am I rambling on about ? That will do. What I did, didnt cost me anything. The mounting stuff I had, the Holo-sight I got for Birthday................

Nah, your ideas are good and I was glad to read them. I'm just more inclined at this time to invest cash rather than time into that aspect of the rifle. Thank you for showing that the basic idea was valid.

I switched two of mine to the Mojo sights and really like them. Little to no modification and easy to install. This isn't a target rifle, but it has improved my accuracy with them.

I'll know on Wednesday as that's the first chance I'll have to get to the rifle range. Too much to do this weekend alas. But I've got a nice little pile of ammo waiting to be used up getting it zeroed.

Chomping at the bit, but that's how it goes sometimes.
