I understand there are about a hundred sight pushers available from cheap Chinese to $300+ American made versions and they are all geared towards pistols.

But I am in particular looking for something with enough adjustable height to drift the front globe sight on a Uberti 1885 Highwall. It doesn’t have a massive octagonal barrel like some of the Sharps 45-100s but its not little either.

I used a nylon punch to do the initial drift but I’d like something to fine tune it so I’m not using windage adjustment to correct for any off-center-ness

Does anyone have any suggestions?

And that little thing will drift a tight dovetail?

In my experiences, yes.

On the end of the spring is a metal mass that applies it's force to the punch, so whatever acceleration (how far you pull back the spring) along with the mass of the metal in motion is pretty significant on the diameter of the punch it's applying that force to.

Isolating the barrel will always help in transferring the energy of the punch as well.
