for sidearms with adjustable sights...

what would you say is an appropriate distance to sight it in? this is going to be done with no benchrest or clamping of any kind. just matching POI to a good two-handed POA. i always trust my own POA enough to do this with rifles at whatever distance the ballistics show should equal the height of the bullet at 100yds [usually around 20-25 yards]. what would be a good practice with a handgun?

thanks.

I sight in my target pistols using two hand hold at 25 yds (no rest) or 50 yds (with rest). My hunting pistols (with 2X scope) are sighted in at 75 yds from sitting rest.

Good shooting and be safe.

Adjust as you shoot

I'm kind of flaky in my grip, I tend to adjust my sights as my grip changes.
For some ammo a ten yard setting will work at 25 or so.
I adjust for the distance I normally shoot.

15 yards is the magic number. Self defense ranges don't normally go beyond that of 7 yards but hey, 15 is just right.
