Texas... finally
I'm starting to look at glass. Gun will be a bolt in 260 to shoot accurately for fun and in one or two "Tactical" matches at known distances. Budget is 1k or hopefully less.

I would like good, clean adjustments. Matched reticle/clicks (preferably MOA). Clear glass. A positive zero stop would be nice as well.

I have a Sightron SIII fixed 16 and really like it. I'm looking at the S-Tac 2.5-17.5x56. I don't love the size of the front lens (the ocular, correct me if I'm wrong) but it is what it is. Does anyone have this scope? Can anyone comment knowledgeably on it and what they like/dislike about it? Any other recommendations?

Glass absolutely befuddles me. Too many expensive choices. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Top, I've got an older Sightron 3X9 on a .223 and it has extremely clear glass, unfortunately I'm not familiar with the scopes you've mentioned, I do know the adjustments definitely hold and are easy to adjust.

I don't have the S Tac,but I do have 5 of the Sightron SIII series 6-24x50 scopes and a SII 4-16x42 on another.
For the money,Sightron scopes are hard to beat. They track excellent, clarity is real good, they hold zero excellent, and the glass is as good as scopes costing 2-3 times as much.

Sightron doesn't have all the bells and whistles that some other brands have, but most are not really needed in the real world. If they offered a few more reticle styles they would really have a bigger customer base.
I've got $2000+ scopes, and the Sightron SIII series doesn't fall behind them in performance by very much at all.

I was planning on getting a S Tac,but I want to buy a Kahles 624i scope for one of my long range rifles first.

I can't address your model but I've recently added a 10-50x60 SIII to my fleet, it's a very, very nice scope for the money. And it wasn't cheap at $1100 or so. I wouldn't hesitate to consider Sightron in the future.

Completely agree with txhillbilly. Sightron compares favorably to much more expensive riflescopes. Vortex, as well, in my experience.

The lens at the front is the objective lens, the lens at the rear (eyepiece) is the ocular lens.

I have a couple of them. Good scopes for the money. You might consider a fixed power scope which is what I have, 24X.
