Hey all,

Couple of questions.

Will the EOTech HWS sight mount to the SU16CA? If it will, does it render the iron sights inoperable or is there a see through feature like with some scope mounts?

Also, I'd love to know your opinions of the HWS both for close quarters and at range. Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

my guess would be the fixed sights would be inoperable. you may even have to remove the rear sight. if there were a way to make a peep sight type mount so you can see under your electronic sight, it may work. how do you like your rifle thus far? i am contemplating buying that particular model.

Hi rgs1975,
I've been thinking of getting one of this too. My buddy got one and he said it shoots nice and reliable even with M16 mags. Anyway, I asked my buddy about the sights...3006mv is right about the fixed sights is inoperable if you put the eotech. My buddy got the eotech 512 on it and he said that he didn't need to take off his rear sight anymore. If you find any scope mount that will be able to use the rear sight please share..I'll be in a look out too.
I'm still saving money for this rifle(How much did you get it for?). I heard this is better model because the barrel is more thicker and iron sights are better .
Ok..please let us know how do you like your rifle.
Thanks

Yes, the EOTech will block the irons, but you can use the GG&G Accucam throw lever accessory for the EOTech, which allows instant removal of the EOTech if you really need the irons. This system is fairly popular in some circles. We've sold a fair number of them to PMCs and military personel.

Though I haven't tried it on the KelTec, you could probably get a "see under" arrangement by using the ARMS#5 multi base, which is a rail riser 5.3" long with a sighting tunnel through it and a rail on top. The height of the tunnel above the top of the rail is from .2" to .5", so the tunnel center is .35" from the top of your original rail. I'm not a fan of "see under" systems however, because they put the optic up way high.

Put a string through your rear sight aperture and accross the top of your front sight, and measure the distance from the bottom of the string to the top of the rail, which is your sight height over the rail (this may take two people). If your iron sight axis is over 0.4 inches (one half inch is about ideal) above the top of the rail you could mount an Aimpoint or similar tubular reflex sight on low rings and get co witnessing of your iron sights.
