hey everyone i just got my new S&W sigma .40ve...i love it since i am a first time gun owner i think i made a good choice for the money....i was just a little hopeful that i could get some feedback on the best way to get more accurate shots well in fact i am a horrible shot out of 20 rounds at 25 feet away i hit my target about 4 times.. now i have grown up shooting handguns and was curious if it could be due to my lack of shooting lately or more because of the 12lb trigger pull. anyhow any kind of advice would be great and i know i will improve by more practice... oh and suggestions on the best type of load i should use for target practice...

thanks guys,

Target practice? Whatever is cheapest.

My tip with the Sigma is to dry fire it about a thousand times. Both you and the gun will get better.

There's also some tricks you can do to the trigger if you google. Apparently, there's a spring that can come out to make the trigger pull half as heavy. Now, I don't own a Sigma, so use your own judgment on that one, whether that spring should stay there or not.

Be careful with the spring removal. I have seen reduction springs. My $00.02 is don't remove a spring, replace it with a different one as it is there for a reason. The one thing I noticed in reading about them is it weakens the striker slightly, and can cause ftf. As far as what to practice with, whatever is cheap and permitted to be used at your range of choice. I actually purchased one as my first semi auto a month or two ago, took it to the range once. Then researched ways to change the trigger pull. Decided to just trade her out for another revolver. Good luck. I'd say if you don't absolutely love it for one reason or the other don't put too much time and effort into the trigger. Just take it for what it is. Thats just me.
