SN13 I'd still like to hear what you did to rectify the extraction/jamming issues.

Yeah, what's up with keeping secrets? There are a few other 938 owners out there (me, for one) who would like to know.

Run it wet, especially when new. The gun is very tight! Don't try to shoot extended amounts of ammo without checking the lubrication. Shoot full strength ammo. Mine likes 124 Blazers and Gold Dots, and it really ejects the Gold Dot brass. I haven't had a failure to extract in over 300 rounds (the last one was about round 160, one before that at around round 60) using these techniques and ammo. I think it needs a new recoil spring already (500 rounds plus a few hundred dry cycles) because it is starting to have some issues using the sling shot to load from slide lock. I have only had one failure to feed that wasn't related to an extraction issue, and that was with a new 7 round magazine and I must have hit the mag release button as the last round was feeding.

I have a P238, how does the P938 compare for pocket carry?

I went from a Colt Mustang (P238's predecessor) to this. I don't notice any difference really.

Sig has a design issue with their extractor. But if you call them, they will tell you that you're limp-wristing the gun.

So I took the extractor out of my 938.

The spring is stout but i dont believe that is the problem. I removed the spring and reinserted the claw.

The Extractor opens to a maximum of .388" (From one side of the breachface to the inside of the extractor claw.)

The issue here is that a 9mm rim diameter is .392" wide! 4 thousandths WIDER than my extractor's maximum width with NO spring pressure.

The Claw itself measure .072" worth of "Grabbing" length.

The average rim is only .025 to .030 deep (1/3 to 1/2 as deep as the length of the claw.)

Which means my Claw has DOUBLE the necessary grab.

I hope this isn't by design.

CLOSED, the Gap between the left side of the slide at the breach face and the edge of the extractor is .327"

The distance from the INSIDE of the rim on the extractor's side to the Rim's outer diameter on the Left side of the Breach face measures .370" to .366" (Measured) and is theoretically .362" (.392" - .030" = .362")

I'll let you guess what I did to solve it.

Don't do it if you're not your own gunsmith.... I took .015" off the extractor claw and reshaped it.

I just want to thank all you beta testers who are wringing out the P938 so that the rest of us can buy guns that run right out of the box in a couple of years.

No on the "after" pics.

If you decide, of your own free will, to modify this, know the risks.

There are no "Spare" parts available.

If you go TOO far, you will need a longer 5/32" spring to add more tension.

GO SLOW. Take a few thousandths off, re-install it, test it by hand-cycling.

If you are not patient and meticulous, you can royally screw things up :)

I have 1,000 rounds through mine after today's session. Perfect. Not one failure to feed, fire, extract or eject. I am very, very, happy with this gun.

At this point, after mods, I've put 200 rds flawlessly through her. I will report back after another 300.

I'm willing to do a bit of tinkering and have made mods to quite a few guns, messing with the extractor is a little beyond my comfort level. Mainly I was interested to see how your before/after compare to mine. I read somewhere that Sig came out with a "new" extractor for the 938, I don't know if mine has it or the "old" one (or if that is simply a rumor).

Anyway, I seemed to have taken care of my extraction problem with a little chamber polishing.
