I am interested in a new 9mm. I prefer non-polymer firearms, it is a personal preference.

I was wondering how the new SIG P938 9mm's are doing.

I am interested in the latest production models and I am trying to learn if the "bugs" have been worked out.

I jumped on the Sig P238 HD Stainless when it first came out. I was disappointed to say the least. So I am always a little hesitant when it comes to considering a P238 or its cousin the 938.

So, if you have a 2015 model Sig P938, please consider taking the poll and posting comments.

I am starting to wonder what the sales numbers actually are for the Sig P938.

I like mine a lot. Carries easily in my pocket and it's soft shooting and easy to hit well with. What's not to like?

At this point it seems that the majority are satisfied with their 2015 Sig P938. That's good news.
But the poll is still young, so I am not going to make any conclusions yet.

Since the 938 and the 238 are basically the same guns what is it you did not like about the P238?

Mine's a bit older than 2015, but I like it, its more fun to carry than shoot, but it does shoot very well for its size.

My even older P238 had some problems initially, but they worked themselves out with some shooting (couple of hundred rounds) -- the "high spots" that were causing the problems were obvious after the finish wore off and it started working well.

Mine has been flawless through 500+ rds. I like it a lot![emoji41]

The P-938 is the first new 9mm pistol I've allowed myself to get excited about in, oh, say, the last 30 years (probably since I came up as a 1911 guy). Mine has been flawless. And finally, the trigger's improved to the point where it's nearly as good as the wife's 238's trigger, which is remarkable. Anyway, I trust my P-938 absolutely, to the point where it's replaced my J-frames as my primary back-up gun. I really like the 238 as well; it's the first .380 I've enjoyed shooting, really, ever ... (don't really trust the caliber, but it's a neat little gun in its own right).

I love and carry my P238 most of the time so when the opportunity came to get a P 938 arose I jumped at it. The 938 with G10 grips and an extended mag is a easily concealed and controlled pistol in the good old 9mm caliber. Having two CC pistols with features in the same places is a plus and being a 1911 person the features match the full size pistol, what's not to like ? A baby 1911 that is totally reliable and packs a punch. Don't ya just hate people who do their homework while holding off on their decision to purchase? They miss all the fun of impulsive buying and having a couple hundred weapons in the safe and not knowing where the next meal will come from:neener:

I have the P238 which is my "motorcycle" gun. I would have gotten the P938 but it wasn't yet available. The '238 fits neatly inside the vest's built-in holster laying flat without showing a bulge. Works for me.

My compact carry 9mm is a M&P 9 Shield. I know it's a polymer frame which you don't prefer but it's one sweet gun and only slightly bigger than the P938. The Shield's magazine(s) can be modified so that an extra round is added. I carry mine in either 8+1 or 9+1 configuration. If you loosen up the metal vs. polymer frame restriction, you will have many choices and at a much lower price point than the P938.

Thank you for the replies. As usual I find that THR members are helpful and eager to help.

I have been researching polymer pistols, but there is always a lack of enthusiasm on my part that slows me down. I do know that it is just me and it is not the old concern that a "plastic" gun will blow up and take my fingers with it.

When it comes to sub-compact polymer firearms, I have researched and come up with this list:
S&W Shield
Glock 43
Kahr PM9

I also discovered a new company, Honor Defense and their Honor Guard pistol. If it is reliable then it would make the short list above for serious consideration.

I have a Walther PPK/S S&W .380. It has been flawless. It has never jammed, not even with the flat nosed WWB. I tried the Glock 42. One of my tests for a pistol is the weak hand / limp wrist test. My full size 9mm (CZ 85 B and Browning HP) work even if I hold it so loose it nearly flies out of my hand. The Glock 42 didn't like that but ran fine with a firm hold.

I need to rent a P938 and see how it does in my various contrived and imagined scenarios.
