Is it true that the current Silencerco Sparrow's are made with a stainless outer tube?

I remember the early ones were made with an aluminum tube so I passed on it.

Then a couple years later they came out with the Sparrow Stainless but from what i heard only the core and clam shells were stainless and the outer tube was now made of carbon steel.

Now from what I am reading they are finally making them 100% stainless. Is this true? And if so what serial number range did they start making them 100% stainless. I'd like to add one to my collection but want to make sure I don't get an old stock carbon steel sparrow.

Thanks, Daniel

The current model Sparrow SS (SKU: SU75, UPC: 817272010008) is all stainless. I do not believe they had an intermediate model but the way the clam shells work, I would not worry if the outer sleeve was not stainless. Pretty much anything sold as new is going to be stainless.

People talk about serial number and year ranges all the time with respect to firearms. Not sure why anyone would be hostile to the idea here.

Yup - I just did my first cleaning (SS Sparrow and Element 2) and have decided in the future I'm probably just going to use my ultrasonic cleaner on the Sparrow - the Element 2 may not need it, but I did remove stuff with SS tumbling the ultrasonic cleaner would not remove.

I didn't do anything for either silencer's barrel except run a bottle brush through for cleaning, then sprayed with some Teflon spray I had laying around to hopefully ease future disassembly?

I ran well over 1,000 rds. through both silencers, and mine look much, much cleaner than most of the pictures I see online, often with many fewer than 1,000 rds! 'Course, I shoot a fair number of plated 22 through them.

After my first cleaning (got them spotless in order to try the silicone dip pre-treatment making the rounds on the 'Net), I don't plan on cracking 'em open for at leas t2,000 rounds for the next cleaning.

Got 'em spotless (just for the pre-treatment), lubed the tubes, and put anti-seize compound on the threads - we'll see how they fare 2,000 rds. down the road.
