When I was a kid, back in the middle of last century, I was convinced that de-tasselling corn was the most boring job ever conceived by man.

I have now discovered that "de-crimping" military brass makes that seem downright spellbinding.

I did a thousand. I may take up golf.

Houseplants actually GROW!? I thought they all just slowly got brown and dropped leaves. What a great forum, you learn something every day!

Assembly line work makes crimp removal seem interesting. The Dillon swager at least makes it go faster. So far I've decrimped about 3500 with it.

I am in the process of decrimping 1000 Federal NT 40 S&W. About 500 done so far. The only thing I can think of that might be worse is listening to the ex-wife.

Don't, I repeat, Don't take up golf. It is almost as addicting as reloading.
I don't like trimming cases. Problem is that it is not a one time thing.

I felt the same about trimming. Actually, trimming was like cleaning the gutters without the excitement of working at heights.

However, once I got the WFT and set it up on a little bench top mill I actually kinda like it

Great analogy! I got you on the de-tasselling corn. Close your eyes after a day of it and all you see is green. I worked for Funks G Hybrid as a kid.

I'm in the same boat, but I plan on building my own swager to go on my Rockchucker. My plan is to place it in the place of the priming tool. So right after I deprime & resize just push it the rest of the way down.

Too funny!:D

I hate trimming even more.

I dont mind squeazing out crimps, or trimming! You guys have one of those newfangled hi-fi radios you can listen to?

Please don't take up golf. Grandpa taught me that golf is a game for guys that are too old to chase women, so they chase a ball around the park.
He said that immediately before Grandma hit him with the rolling pin.

I have been removing the primer crimps with a 60 degree countersink since I first encountered primer crimps, mebbe 20 years ago. Being a lifelong machinist/mechanic, this was the first and most logical remedy. When I have a lot of brass to process, I put Willy and Waylon on the CD, get a cup of coffee and do as much as I feel comfortable doing in one sitting...

Two other thoughts; One, you only have to do it once and two, there's only one way to eat an elephant, that's one bite at a time . No need to decrimp all 500 at one sitting...:D

PapaG makes a good point. It was probably 10 or 12 yrs. ago that my boys insisted I go play a round of golf with them. Golf has always been one of those sports I made fun of. Now I have golf funds, and reloading funds. And in Tucson, it's nearly free to play a round, $18 - $22 in the summer season, and $30 - $40 during the winter season, even on the nicer championship courses.

I have a tv in my reloading room for the boring tasks like this, as long as the fingers stay out of the way it's fine. :D

If you watch the video of Rachael Ray silking corn you might change your mind.

You guys are a riot. :D

As for decrimping milspec brass - I save it and give it to a buddy who can find someone who wants to spend that amount of time...

Golf is relaxing, and is done by choice. Golf is more like divorce though..try to figure out where you screwed up in between bursts of profanity, all the while feeling judged and ridiculed.

Detasselling corn is bad. Luckily I don't reload anything I have found crimped primers in so far (maybe a couple in 9mm) but if its worse than turning necks then I'm glad I dont.
