Does anyone have any reloading data for silver bullets? They're mostly for show, but one never knows when a werewolf will need to be dispatched. :D Calibers: 45 ACP/LC, 44 Mag, 41 Mag, 38/357 & 9mm. TIA

Silver bullets

Silver melts at 1761 degrees so a jewelers crucible or a welding torch would be needed to melt silver.

I personally don't think I would want to subject one of my quality bullet molds to those temperatures.

I would rather check in to a source for silver plating some copper jacketed bullets for the desired appearance.

...but wouldn't the lead in the silver plated bullet counteract the werewolf/vampire destruction capabilities of silver? :uhoh:

Maybe, you should just machine some silver bullets from silver rods, instead of casting. :scrutiny: :D

Thanks for the info. I'm well aware of the properties of silver, that's why I'm having a jewler cast the bullets. As for the molds, they're replaceable, but I doubt any damage will come to them. The melting point of plain Iron is 600 degrees C. above that of silver

I've received conflicting information... Sierra advises using lead data, while CCI advises jacked data.

Silver being harder than lead should tolerate the higher loads and I'm guessing there won't be a 'leading' problem

As I mentioned, these are mostly for show, but if I'm ever down to a last bullet and it's a silver one, I want it to function. I'll be damned if I'll throw 1/2 oz of silver at someone/thing unless it's coming out of the barrel of one of my Blackhawks.

Regards,

Ralph
