Oh Hi Oh
I rented an HK 2000 today just for fun. Very nice shooter. Very high price tag. I think it was around $850. I saw a Sig Pro for around $450 (sale price?) elsewhere and it appears to have features similar to the HK; polymer frame, decocker, single/double action. Not that I NEED another gun but IF I go the itch to add a sa/da to my collection (already have a Glock 19 and 26) what makes the HK worth the extra $$$, and is the Sig Pro a quality gun at the lower price? Unfortunatly they did not have a Sig Pro for rent so I can't try one out. I know there are many decent sa/da 9mm pistols out there, but for now I'm really only interested in comparrison of these two guns.

Thanks

Buy both! :) I did.

Well not all 9mm, but I bought a nib Sig Pro 9mm and nib HK P2000 40 LEM.
The HK has slimmer grip even for a 40 compared to the 9mm SigPro. The removable grip on the SigPro moves a bit, I can feel it when inserting a mag while holding the gun; the HK grip is tight because it's pinned.

The sights on the Sig is a bit off to the right, both front and rear. The HK is perfectly centered front and rear. Both are accurate.
I had to return the SigPro back to Sig, not with the HK.

I'm an HK guy, so the P2000 LEM stays :)

what makes the HK worth the extra $$$
If you have to ask that, buy whatever the least expensive.

The Pro is my favorite polymer framed pistol and I'd have to say that of the handguns I own,it's in the top 5 ( Para SSP,BHP,SIG 230, S&W 66 would go about it to judge my tastes - Glock,S&W,Walther and Beretta autos below it).IME it's one of the most under-rated pistols and best buys out there, mine has a better trigger and is more accurate than my "classic" SIG's.If only the grip fit me as well as a 226 or if they had made a 239 sized single stack Pro.In short, great pistol, you can't go wrong with one.The HK is great too but certainly not anywhere close to twice as good in my book.

Personally, I'd go with the SIG P229R-DAK, but if your heart is set on a polymer frame check out the Beretta PX4. It's getting very high marks from those who own them and it's MUCH cheaper.

The 239 is an alloy framed compact with a single stack magazine that holds 8 rounds of 9mm or 7 of .40/.357SIG.The SIG Pro is a service sized pistol with a polymer frame that takes double stack magazines and is also available in all 3 calibers. The 239's frame is German, the Pro's is Swiss but AFAIK both of their stainless slides are made in New Hampshire, though I could very well be wrong.I could take pics of them side by side at lunch if you'd like to see.

Thanks for the response. I was under the impression they where very similar, but is sounds like the pro is a much bigger gun?

My interest is for CCW so it sounds like the 239 is a better choice for carry.

As they say.... a picture is worth a thousand words..... If you post some comparsion pics I will be sure to look....:D

My Sig

The Sig Pro is still my daily CCW. (Until my 1911 is broke-in)
I'm not a little guy. 6' 0" X 195 lbs, so it may make it a bit easier for me to carry it in the IWB rig you see in the pics.
I would recommend this pistol to anyone. I've fired about a gazillion rounds through it. 0 FTFs, 0 jams, 0 problems. Very easy to care for.
I carry it at the 6 o'clock position mostly, I'll slide it over to the 4 o'clock if I'm on a long drive or something.
Anyone have pics of their HK 2000 for a compare?
