Incredible bargain considering my Gen 1 Aimpoint ran me $150 in the day.

Would I use this on a M16 in combat? No. On a 10/22 squirrel hunting in fair weather? Sure.

No doubt to me it's probably Chinese, and not well sealed against moisture. It uses an odd battery that gets expensive to replace compared to a AAA. It may not have good repeatability or MOA accuracy at 500 yards.

It's probably GEN 1 equivalent now, for a lot less.

I bought the Tasco version of this Red dot - probably the exact same unit. Mine was used on a springer air rifle to start with. This type of air rifle can be hard on optics but the cheap dot held up well.

It is now on a 10/22 and performs very well. It uses a 2032 watch type Lithium battery.

As Tirod states , I would not use it on my battle rifle , but for the price I can't complain with the performance on my air rifle and 22 rifles.

Arkie has a $25 red dot on his Ruger Charger. I don't know if it was a Simmons or a BSA. Seems to work fine, and it held up to my two grandsons putting four bricks through the gun last spring at the Whittington Center.

I've been thinking of putting one on my Mini-14 just to see if it will hold up. That would be just the ticket for running coyotes out to 100 yards or so.
