I see Simmons scopes being advertised at really cheap prices. Are they going out of business or what? Who owns them? I heard that Mead had sold them but don't know who bought the company. I have read that their new system of cross hair adjustment was really good but have not read any tests other than 4or5 years ago. thanks

I've got two Simmons scopes that I'd give you if you were in my area. Total junk is an understatement IMO. Best thing about Simmons is that they make you appreciate something (which is most anything) that is better.

I've got a 3-9x30 Simmons scope that I picked up for $40. I've never used a scope before. so I didn't want to drop $300 on something I didn't end up liking. I had it mounted on my Saiga .223 for several range trips until I decided to go with a red dot for it. I never once had so much as a hiccup with my Simmons.

There was a time when Simmons were considered decent scopes, same for their binoculars.

Somewhere along the line, management decided to downgrade the quality and go for mass marketing price points. End of Simmons quality.

You may find older Simmons products that are good, but the later stuff is garbage.

It's sad when this happens, and it's not just them. They trade on a quality name, build junk, and it takes a while for the consumer to realize the product has gone down the tubes.

simmons

Bushnell owns Simmons and Tasco now! I am very happy with Bushnell rifle and pistol scopes. I have a Simmons on a Ruger Mark 2 pistol and one on a Ruger Super Redhawk that have held up fine. Have to admit was hesitant to put a Simmons on a 44 mag but figured what the heck they have a lifetime warranty and have not had a lick of trouble.

MRAYW, Do you know why so many outfits are selling Simmons scopes at such a discount?
