Hey guys...how are ya!!! Nice forum....been looking for a while, and finally joined since I had some extra time at home....check this out....

Camping with my kids in the Katskills (NY) back on March 10th. I was crossing a partially snow/ice covered stream (about 20 feet wide) and slipped on a river rock, fell backwards and smashed my left hand on the way down, on an adjacent rock....nice ....

I put it on ice for several hours, then sucked it up and slogged through the rest of the weekend and finally got treated about 36 hours later (had to drive home 250 miles).....then had to wait five more days for surgery to fix the hand.... check out the cool xrays ...I had to use my digital camera to take pictures of the prints which I held up against a fluorescent light...

So....I had to take two weeks off of work....With all this free time....I spent lots of time typing with one hand, and surfing *ALL* the gun auction sites I could find....

bought a really nice BHP in .40S&W, and a very clean nice Sig P220 with 4 mags and holster for $450 here on THR :D

The Doc says, four more weeks in a cast....a few weeks of phys therapy, and I have a 90% chance of full use of my left pinky.....

Thank the Lord I am right handed.....I still got my good shooting hand!!! :D

Will you set off the metal detectors now? :)

Have you ever met one of those people who wince and say "ow" when they see evidence of someone's painful injury? That's me.

Ow ow ow ow ow!

This is why we suggest new members read carefully the FAQs and all pertinent information upon registering. It reads:

New member buys ammo

not

Marconi X -rays required

I think in your case we will skip the ammo req....

So sorry about the accident, sending best all goes well with healing and PT.

Gotta admit, you do make an entrance, Mods - give this guy some style points.

Regards,

Steve

That looks like a nasty break! Kind of makes my toes hurt when I see something like that. :D Hope you get FULL use and feeling back in that finger.
Mark.

As long as we are doing show and tell...
Here are my before and after x-rays of my left arm (the safety pin was on my sling):

No, I do not set off the walk-thru metal detectors (it id titanium, not steel) but the wand will pick it up.

I was up on a ladder putting up Christmas lights (think Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation:eek: ). Ladder slipped, gravity took over, I went down hard (on a rose bush). No one else home but my daughter who was barely 5 years old and napping. My upper arm had an extra 90 degree bend in it between the elbow and the shoulder. It hurt, but I knew it would hurt worse in 10 minutes (and I might pass out) so I got up, went inside and dialed 911 with my other hand. Woke up my daughter (who was a trooper). She went to the door to unlock it and wait for the calvary. Deputy arrived first. Pulled part of the rose bush off that was clinging to my back (my wife brought it to me in a vase at the hospital). There is more to the amusing story, but I'll spare you the details.
