I was just looking back on my previous posts and enjoyed looking at how far I have come in the last 5 years.
I have been around firearms all of my life and had only owned some typical hunting guns up until about 2007. Since that time I have become a very avid collector of some nice pieces, I particularly enjoy WW2 era arms and militaria. I have taken my kids shooting many times and my 12 year old daughter has really enjoyed our time at the range together.
I have always been a patriotic person and I have extensive military history in my family.,I served six years myself.
But I find myself learning more about our history and enjoying that history more every day and I think my increased interest and respect for it is due to becoming a collector and studying each firearm.
I truly hope that this ability to collect and enjoy firearms is still available for my children to enjoy when and if they decide to do the same .
It is forums like this that give me hope and I thank each and every one of you that have contributed to my posts for your help.

Roccoracer;

Pure curiosity on my part, but what did or do you race? With me it was motorcycles, the 900F was a Honda AMA legal 1025 superbike, engine by D. Zickrick of HRC. By today's standards it was slow, but I can tell you when yer butt's in the saddle & turn one comes up at 162 mph, it sure feels fast.

And just to keep it on subject, got any nice Garand's?

I race a VW Scirocco. (Road race)
And yes I have a six digit serial number Winchester M1 Garand and before you ask I also have an IBM with AO receiver M1 carbine too .

Don't be a stranger for so long; you need to stop by here and share with us some of your stories, perspectives, and hopefully photos of your guns.

If we don't train our children, we'll lose our rights by attrition of old age.

My son goes to a rural high school with an annual graduating class of about 20-25 students a year. Farm town. Downstate IL. Not some big city school or suburbia. The kind of school that has an Agriculture class and takes field trips to teach children how to grade livestock.

Yet NONE of the children in my son's high school class had ever been around firearms before.

I've introduced a few to the fine art of putting lead down range.

But it's alarming; how little exposure the new generation is getting to firearms.

We need to fix that.
