Single Action Carry Holster

New holster for my Colt SAA. I had been looking for one that would be a good carry holster for some time. I spend a lot of time outdoors and most of the SAA holsters on the market are just too cumbersome for my needs. I bought the "Crosshair" from El Paso Saddlery and it is truly a custom made work horse. It rides high enough to be out of the way and still easy to get to. Something to look at if you are wanting a more modern design.

i have a bianchi shoulder rig that i use for my super blackhawk when i'm outdoors, and it keeps it out of the way.

What did that set you back pardner? I have started carrying my SBH as a car gun and would like to get a good high rider.

The "Crosshair" sells for $70. Those guys do exceptional work for a really reasonable price. It comes lined to protect the gun. Only thing in buying this time of year - after about the middle of October if you need a rush order you have to tell them because they are starting to work on Christmas orders. Four to six weeks is pretty common. I've been buying holsters from them since the early 80s and have never been disappointed. Check out the link to their website.

You will get a lot of strong pro and con opinions on that one. Having said that, "my personal choice" - it depends on what I am doing. I do carry one a lot of the time. After 30+ years, I am (personally) totally comfortable with the technology. Next week, I will be at a work related activity where most of the time, I will be in the woods. I will be packing a SAA the whole time. On occasions when I need to be more discreet - I will carry a Detective Special or a Walther just because they are smaller.

Its my carry gun when I'm out in the woods. My Blackhawk is in .357, so I'm usually packing my Marlin 1894c with me. We have alot of Meth-Heads here in S.E. Oklahoma, so its rather prudent to carry something while out wandering.

Check out Mernickle dual position for single actions. It can be carried strong side or crossdraw when seated in a car. I carry this one quite often, in colder weather, and I also have a Mernickle IWB for single actions.

I'm with Storm. The Mernickle is a good holster. Just got one for my little Bearcat and it's well made, comfortable to wear, and will conceal easy if you need/want it to.

I have the Triple K leather holsters in 45Colt (Fits my 7.5 inch barrel Blackhawk.) and 22LR (Fits 2 of my S/A revolvers.) and cowboy belt. (I open carry.)

My husband has several leather holsters in 'brand names'. He carries open and concealed.

I only own 2 leather holsters and the Uncle Mike's black fabric one (Shoulder holster.) now.

When I sold a couple of guns that had holsters for that specific gun... I sold them as 'a package deal'.

I use a Mitch Rosen "Sport" for my Ruger S/A's. About all I'll buy is his stuff now.

For a SA revolver carry holster I have to agree Simply Rugged is probably your best choice. Their Sourdough Pancake is one of the best holsters you will ever use IMO. For something a little more traditional The Texas Pancake isn't too far behind.

Colt SAA 4 4/34"

Here's what I made for my daily carry gun. It rides high and does'nt flop, the case rims are about at the top edge of the belt. I made it long enough for a 5 1/2" barrel aso it protects the crown on this 4 3/4". Kip skin lined. It's much worn now.
