I've looked through El Paso's options and they have a few things that are similar to what I'm looking for, but none of them quite hit the mark. The closest they come is their Patton holster. I just don't like the exposed trigger. Every Cowboy action / western holsters online store I have found seem to make almost all, if not all, of their guns only for Single Action models.

Basically, I want a low-ride holster (trigger at the belt line is as high as I want, preferably grip at the belt) that will fit a double action revolver. Dan Wesson model 14 6" to be exact, but I'm told that a holster designed for a S&W K-Frame will work with this gun. Retention is optional. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Primary purposes will be open carry while hunting, taking to the range, and 'BBQ Gun' type settings

Ask at a Tandy leather store,,,

Here is one I made for my Colt Trooper Mk-III,,,
Any competent leather worker can do one in similar style.

Here is another I made for a S&W Model 36.

If there is a Tandy leather store near you,,,
Go visit and talk to the manager or one of the floor staff,,,
I will bet you a shiny new .44 Magnum cartridge they can refer you to a maker.

When I managed a Tandy store in California,,,
People were always inquiring about "Who can make me a custom ________."

If I didn't want to take the job myself,,,
I always had a customer/craftsman or two I could recommend.

Give it a try,,,
You might be pleasantly surprised.
