Single action grips with some grip

I’ve considered just using rubber grips for my load development and then switching back to wood for carry. I’m carrying this gun all the time as it’s my favorite and carry’s good too.

The Pachmayr Presentations look a bit better and still offer some good recoil mitigation.

I seen them, and they are better than the hogues looks wise. But still not the style of a single action. They’d be better for using some of the time because they attach easier. A quick swap when desired.

One thing that works for me with a single action is a somewhat loose grip, right thumb tip on the recoil shield, the thumb position controls the roll up somewhat. If you support the gun in the palm of your off hand and use a relaxed grip your accuracy should improve. When you have a death grip on the gun the shakes get started pretty quickly and groups open up.
Thanks for the suggestions. I don’t death grip it, I try to do just short of where I’ll shake. I have a single six that I use too, for fun as well as training. I’ve had one or another single sixes for 20 years. So I have a solid foundation, it’s just the my hands are getting older and hurting more now. I’m trying to mitigate it since I once could shoot better than now.

I've got a pair of those, too. They have lots of grip, but I think the best thing about rubber grips that completely cover the grip frame is they act as a bumper for a holstered gun.

Chicharonnes posted a link to Eagle grips on page one. Their “Gunfighter” grips are wider at the top of the grip, above your thumb and trigger finger, to reduce the natural roll of the plowhandle grip during recoil. A checkered Eagle Gunfighter grip won’t shift in your hand when fired. For a glove, consider a golf glove with the trigger finger cut off. Thin and flexible with good feel characteristics.

I bought a set of wooden original grips for my Blackhawk 'cause I couldn't "like" the plastic "cheese grater" grips that came on it.

I also had a very strong dislike for those "cheesy" plastic grips that came with my Flattop Blackhawk .44 Special. Bought a pair of Ruger's Rosewood grips to tied me over until my American Holly grips from Private's Custom Grips came in. They were well worth the wait and fit my Ruger to a "T".

My NM Flat Top 44 has the checkered wood from Shop Ruger. They have the Ruger logo. The flat top is a different grip frame but I expect they have fancy grips for the regular NM.

I have tried a lot of grips. Checkered, smooth, extended... Not a whole lot of difference in my shooting even when the grip "feels great". I now use a right hand golf glove with the trigger finger cut off and what ever flavor grip I am thinking is the "final solution" this month. And I have a drawer full of Herrets grips. For me getting a good sight picture over rides any readjustment of the grip. I am currently shooting a extended Texas grips grip with a smooth surface. They make checkered grips too in both regular and extended sizes. Good company. If I had invested in Stag grips I would want to shoot them. Try the glove.

My flattop has been converted to Blackhawk sized XR3-red grip frame. So that makes things easier I think.
