Single Action Tuesday

It took a million hours of overtime to get here and I never take it for granted........
It looks like mother nature is gonna throw a huge wrench into my Sunday shoot around plans..the good news it'll all melt in time for Tuesday. The single six will be callin....View attachment 1137607
That’s a really nice place you have there.Bet that’s nice walking around the woods.

A bridge over troubled waters.....actually a pond. Get done shooting, do a little bass fishing.....I got a few 7 pounders in there. We feed em good
bass fishing (7 pounds is a MONSTER) and shooting! dang man! I’m jealous, and that’s not in me to be

Just a friendly reminder.....tomorrow is single action Tuesday. Should I not have to put any fires out at the shop I'll be set up by 1645 tomorrow.
Think it'll be a single six and Bisley Blackhawk 45 late arvo tomorrow. I'll pull em out tonight and prep em

Happy single action Tuesday. Couldn't resist getting out after work today and changed a bit from my original plan. I decided to practice off my portable bipod today, and as we can see I need a heck of alot more practice off it!! That and instead off the Titegroup load I was gonna play with, I grabbed another box with 25 240 SWC and some Blue Dot, a little bit more go go.
Well I was way high with the first 5, the next 5, still high and hunting for the hold, and just went right to the bottom of the target and started grouping back.
To say I miss the rubber grip on this gun for the heavier loads is an understatement. But today was the first time ever I shot this thing with upper level magnum loads and the factory grips. You betcha I got some work to do. This folding chair/bipod setup is usually in a pop up blind with the scoped super red. Definitely more practice if I'm to use this revolver like this next season. Better to find out now.
Until next Tuesday.......Cheers 20230307_165519.jpg 20230307_165545.jpg 20230307_173344.jpg

Good Times!!! you don’t keep a cowboy rig?

Good Times!!! you don’t keep a cowboy rig?

O yea, always good to step out for session. If you're referring to a holster, that one I usually carry afield in a Uncle Mike's shoulder rig. Nothing special, just to get from point A to B, where it usually sits on me knee on stand. But I did have my Jacaru Roo leather hat on to cover this scalp that ain't fit for no decent man's lodgepole. That's about as close to cowboy as I get.
I was planning to play with the 45 today, but it dawned on me last night it had been a spell since I launch a few from that Super Black. I hadn't shot it since I put the factory grips on it, and had to try it in original configuration with some Magnums. The load date was Sept 2015, those where the last of a run of 100. 12.8gr of Blue Dot, I think 1200fps with that SWC. It was always a great load, not too hot to cause any issues lead wise, but warm enough.
I'll pull it back out this week and shoot the "Lite Magnum", Titegroup load that runs 950-1000 in that SBH. Basically a high end special load in the magnum case.
I'm pretty sure after today as to why when I acquired this revolver nearly 20 yrs ago the I believe they're called "Herrett"grips we're on it and the originals were wrapped in tissue tucked into a Crown Royal pint bag(The bloke had good taste in whiskey, too!!). The factory grips certainly changed alot of dynamics for me. Like anything else, just take some time to get used to, but I think I'll go back to the rubber duck for magnum work.
I'm closing in on 60 and finding myself needing a bit more to hang onto.
Fun way to wind down a long day, glad someone thought this day up. My neighbors get their drink on every Thursday night......that gives em a full 48 hours for their eardrums to recover

$50 hand made holsters, been using them for YEARS. I like a cross-draw for my 7.5” guns and a strong side for 5.5” guns!

The idea of single action Tuesday struck me as a really good one. I was in the office at 0500 this morning so I can hit the range this afternoon.

Top to bottom are: EIG E15 (c.1939) in .22LR, Colt SSA in .45 Colt, and Ruger SBH in .44 Remington Magnum.

Only the SBH will make it to the range today to test several loads of Frontier 240 grain CMJ bullets over various American Select and 296 charges.

My local ranges have been closed for the past weeks, the outdoor range I recently joined because of the weather (The creek you have to cross is high and the ranges are muddy), and the indoor range for cleaning and maintenance. :(

I hope to get out by Thursday, I am really wanting a bit of trigger time.

Stay safe.

What a drag..... fortunate to have my own set up out back, but that don't mean squat when one is back to working his life away. The only consolation I guess in my situation is that there's a new revolver in my future with all this overtime

Make the best out of it when it’s happening, and reward yourself handsomely when it’s all done.

Stay safe.
