Single shot .22 info needed

I'm going to teach my 11 y.o. nephew to shoot and I'd like to pick up a decent single shot .22. IRRC somebody made a single shot Martini or falling block action (I think) .22. Wish I could remember the name of it but I seem to be having a brain fart.
If anybody out there remembers, or has any other suggestions I would be much obliged.

The Scout comes with a magwell block to make it a single shot. This can be replaced with a 5 or 10 shot magazine when he is ready for it. Some grown men like the Scout, too. Enough to make CZ introduce an adult-stocked 16" version of the 452, apparently.

I just took my 8 yo nephew to the range for the first time yesterday. Brought a Marlin 15YN (open sights), a CZ452 Scout (scoped), and a Ruger 10/22 with BC stock and barrel (red dot). The CZ was the most accurate, of course and he was shooting out the 10 ring of Shoot-N-See targets right off the bat at 25 yds. Not sure how the 15YN or Scout would fit an 11 yo but the Scout was just a tad long for him. I've never had any problems using the Scout myself as, although short, does not prevent me from shooting it without any problems. The Marlin is too small for me as the comb is too high. I have to use the back portion of the stock where the Monte Carlo top is lower to get a good sight picture. The 15YN is a single shot, the Scout is mag fed but comes with a single shot adaptor for a mag. The regular 5 and 10 tound mags work fine, of course.

I bought a CZ Scout for my niece and it turned out to be the perfect little gun for her... that is of course until she learned to shoot my CZ-550 in 22-250. Can't fault the Scout for that though. I think it's the perfect little training gun for a kiddo.

I got my sons a savage cub to teach them on. I started my oldest with a Winchester 67, but it was too long for him to shoot comfortably. With the cub he does much better, and he is pretty comfortable with the peep sight.

you could also cruise the gunshows and shops, and find an old Ithaca 49.

While Im a long time bolt action guy I feel the Stevens "Old Favorite" is the perfect first firearm.

I started out with a Marlin/Glenfield Model 10. Bolt action with the knob on the back that you cock when ready to shoot the gun.

Another vote for the Stevens Favorite. I have a model 1915 given to me by a friend whose family had it literally for generations. After cleaning it up and making a few repairs it has been a joy to shoot. Great for leisurely plinking . Originally it was one of Stevens's "boy's guns" and it had a fairly short stock. I assume the new ones retain the character and fun of the originals.

I start my kids on CZ Scouts as they can be turned into repeaters in about 2 seconds when they are ready.
