Guys,
I currently own a S&W 3913LS and a Sig 225 not P6. I found a Sig 239 in the paper locally for a reasonable price. Is the 239 much smaller than the 225. I am looking for the perfect CCW. Does anyone have a pic of a 239 next to either the 225 or 3913 for comparison? You could save me the trouble of bugging this guy.

Thanks

i had both. they are about the same size. i preferred the P225 over the P239.

i'll have to look if i still have the pics of the P239 vs. the P225

I had a P239, and it was a very nice pistol. My only dislike was the long trigger. There is a replacement "short" trigger, and chances are if I'd replaced the longer one I would still have the Sig, but I sold it. It was always accurate and reliable and I am a big fan of Sigs in general.

Now, I have a 3913LS and a CS 9 and I like either (both?) of them over the Sig P239 simply because I like the option of an external safety and the overall feel.

I don't see how a P239 would be an improvement over your 3913 other than if you just personally liked it better. Either pistol is to my mind an excellent compact 9mm single stack and you will be well served with either. I think you will find the Sig P239 slightly more accurate than the S&W for target purposes, but for practical self defense range accuracy both are more than sufficient.

I sorta like the CS9 a bit better than the 3913LS but probably only because I bought the CS9 last. Probably if I'd bought the 3913LS last I'd prefer it...

I love both the 3913LS and the CS9 and my HK P7, and I loved my Walther P99c/AS (which is a super little pistol, very, very accurate). But the P99c/AS is a bit thicker for cc.

Hey, check out a surplus HK P7. Accuracy beyond belief, and although it's heavier than the 3913 or Sig it's a fantastic firearm.

Best Wishes,

Jesse

P239 is smaller

Although I don't have the comparative photo you requested, I believe the Sig P239 9mm is slightly smaller than the P225. If you look up empty gun weights, the P239 weighs 27.5 ounces empty to the P225 weight of 28.9 ounces empty.

The barrel length on the P239 is 3.6 inches, compared to 3.9 inches for the P225. Here is a photo of my P239 in 9mm, which seems very slim and compact compared to some P225s I have handled:

can't find my pics, but here's one that i found on the net.
IIRC, the P239 has a slightly shorter grip.
i got rid of my P239 for another P225.
at one point i had 3 P225's a few years back.
might pick up a pair of P6's since they are cheap.

Thanks guys

I am not a huge sig fan and actually my fav sigs are the 230/232. I found a good deal on the 239 and "if" I would carry it from time to time would buy it. I don't carry the 225 IWB because the grip prints bad on my clothes. You would think being 6'5" it would be easier to conceal. Maybe I am just to worried to have someone spot it on me. Looks as tho the 239 has a shorter grip and is more 3913LS like than the 225 which is what I'm looking for.

Have you not heard- They have not yet built "the perfect CCW gun" That's why we have to keep on buying all sorts of guns to try. Sure is fun isn't it!

I would say save your money and keep using the P230/232. The SIG 230 conceals very well and has decent stopping power coupled with the right selection of ammo JIMO.
