Something that is unheard of in full size guns today with all those wunder nines out. Even so, I've always liked them despite being a tactical blunder in today's world. If you have them, pictures are always welcome!

I like them. One of my very favorite handguns, the S&W 3913, is a "slimnine," and I've just acquired a Bersa BP9CC. Yeah, "only" seven- or eight-round magazines, but they are also very slender and flat. This difference is very noticeable carrying IWB.

I'd argue whether it's a tactical blunder or not, but I'll concede there are better options. However, we all want to see some single stack 9mms, right? This is my S&W Model 39. The design dates back to the 1950s and is one of the best handling guns I've shot. It feels great in the hand.

"Tactical blunder" for a fullsized handgun, perhaps (though I'm not convinced), but in the really compact concealed carry pistol segment 9mm single stack is a real hot item. See the Ruger LC9 as an example.

EDIT: does that S&W have a euro mag release? Didn't know they ever used that style.

I wiser man than I once said that a Sig P6 doesn't seem to make sense until you've handled one.

...Then when you actually shoot it you realize why people don't seem to mind the 8 round magazine capacity.

What you see is for a lanyard. They do have an American mag release that you can see, it's just very small. The M39 is defiantly on my list, I once saw one in sorta rough condition for $250 and would have bought it if it wasn't for me being under 21. I have to stick to private sales for the time being, oh well.

I've really warmed up over the years to my Novak tuned Colt Combat Commander in 9mm. With proper magazines and quality ammunition it's 100% reliable.

Old School

Old School ~ but I like it. One of my favorite full size semi-autos.

Walther P1 w/ Hex Bolt and Fat Slide Upgrades.

Here are two of my favorites. An HK P7 PSP and a Kahr T9. Very similar guns in many ways.

Another Kahr, a K9. Very nice pistol.

The Walther PPS is a fine example of what a single-stack can be. I guess technically not full sized, but close enough.

I've got two of them myself: a Walther P1 and a SIG P6. If I ever can find a decently priced CZ-52 conversion barrel (which is looking less and less likely over time), then I'll have a third :).

Overall I don't mind shooting them at the range. I actually did my CWP range qualification with my SIG P6 - you could only load 5 rounds at a time for that anyways. In the end though, I think the both are outdated in a way. Single stack makes sense when you're making the gun concealable. IE, single stack is the way to go on the Ruger LC9, Keltec PF9, Kahr CW9, etc. When you're talking about more or less full-sized guns, then I wouldn't MIND having a single-stack if push came to shove, but realistically I'd always prefer to have a double stack instead.

Star b 9mm lugar 8 round magazine made in 1943. I have a love hate relationship with this pistol. It's about 7/8th's the size of a 1911 and has very pleasant ergo's. Feels good in the hand and is quite accurate, watch out for hammer bite. But sadly it's not as reliable as I would like. I've had it to the smith twice and it's better, but prone to stove pipes.

It's a fun range gun, and I'll keep it for that.

I called them a tactical blunder only because of what a lot of people think of them as. I think they are perfectly fine.
