I love this whole setup/fire/break-in period and the joy of swapping in parts :D

So thus far on my beat up Sistema:
1 - Grips replaced
2 - Sear/Sear Spring/Recoil Spring replaced
3 - Trigger/Disconnector replaced (Trigger pull back down to 5lbs)
4 - Hammer/Grip safety/Barrel link pin replaced
5 - Slide stop/thumb safety replaced

and today's fun...
6 - Full length recoil spring guide rod/plug added, National Match barrel bushing added :D

two more trips to the range, and 300 rounds to go and it will be time to get this old girl refinished...

Mad Magyar - At what point does it not be called a, "Sistema"?

When/If the slide is ever replaced, then it'll just be "the 1911A1 I own that is built on a Sistema 1927 frame" :D

Dust 101,

I just won one of these wonder 1911s in a Gunbroker auction. It's finish is almost completely gone, but I am not worried about that. Quick question for you, how does it shoot and handle and is there anything I should look at replacing right away? Any known trouble spots (kinda like the CZ-52's firing pin?)

Thanks!

tinygnat219,

usually there are not many things you need to ever replace on these that are specific to the model. just like any 1911A1 you should look for wear on each part and determine if anything needs replacing, try the safety tests, and go from there. A really good purchase is the army reprint manual that goes through the steps:
