I'm going to buy a couple of Turner Saddlery M1907 NM slings- one for myself and another for a present. They come in 2" increments from 50" to 58".
Their FAQ doesn't address how to pick one. Anyone have any advice/suggestions on how to pick the right size? I just need to size for myself, the recipient of the other has the same height and arm length.
Thanks

What rifle? The AR is going to need 54". The Garand can get by with a 50".

I have a Ron Brown 54 that I use on all of my service rifles.
The Turner is good, but the Ron Brown is much better for not much more. Normally in stock at Creedmoor

We're both 6'1" and they'll be used on Garands

I'm not doubting you, but what makes the Rob Brown slings better? I'd prefer to give my business to an in-state company (e.g. Magnus Bullets), but if there's a marked difference in quality I'd consider the Ron Brown sling.

I am 6 feet tall and did fine with 54" when shooting service rifle. I use a 54" on my bolt match rifle also. When i was shooting a lot of Garand match's I had a 52" which was plenty long for that setup. The standard length used to be 48" if i remember correctly but with a shooting coat on, they are on the short side.

good grief, images are killing me. anyways, it's kind of hard to tell from these pics, but turner leather is rather thin and floppy. the keepers are buttery relative to some other slings, and tend to slide.

the sling in the top pic is a really good one. it holds a lot better and the keepers are super stiff, and the opening in one exactly fits two straps and the other fits 3 so you can configure as shown in the top. this keeps you from cutting your circulation off, and it keeps the keepers from sliding away from your arm and changing the length of the sling
