I'm referencing the weights that go in place of the magazine cap. I currently shoot an 870 express, 28" barrel. It balances right at the front of the receiver and so feels barrel heavy. I'm thinking that more weight on the front will only slow down my swing. Any thoughts on whether these help or hinder would be appreciated.

Thanks

Most of the weights I've seen being used were by people shooting different gauges in skeet, and they wanted to make sure the feel was the same from gun to gun; if you just want to move the balance point back a bit, you can add some weight in the butt, either with lead shot in a sock or similar, or maybe some weights screwed into the front of the buttpad, hidden inside the stock.

If you want to reduce recoil AND improve the swing of the gun, go ahead and get the weighted mag. cap, but be sure and add just a little more weight to the butt to help with it being nose-heavy.
