SKS and AK, which gets shot more?

For those of you that are lucky enough to own both of the above guns, which gets shot more often?

I have both and I find that I shoot the SKS more often than the AK, maybe because it is newer and I am still trying it out. The SKS has a better trigger and is all around more comfortable to shoot than the AK.

Nothing beats blasting off 30 rounds with the AK when you've had a bad day though! Stress free after that.

Ak all the way

I don't have any really good mags for my sks and I have it in a choate dragunov stock that requires that I take the wood screws!? out of the front half of the pistol grip to take it down to put in the original 10 rounder. USA mags SUCK!

After I do that I will probably shoot it more. The ak is too easy to load not to take it shooting almost every trip. I got one of the speed loaders for ak mags. Sweet!

I much prefer the longer site radius of the sks. And except for the bizarre take down method I like the dragunov for it's longer length of pull over that of the AK.

I vote SKS,I like the longer sight radius&trigger on the SKS.I have 4 SKS,2 AK,I thimk I'm going to trade the 2 AKs.

When I'm shooting with someone then the AK always comes out for the fun of it.


If I'm shooting by myself then the SKS gets shot more.

I shoot one of the AKs at least monthly. I've taken the Chicom SKS out of the safe for oiling every few months. Haven't shot it in years.

SKS gets the nod------I go thru ammo too fast with the AK---the SKS forces you to slow down a bit.

Had both. Sold the AK. I like the SKS safety better. Especially when carrying in the woods.

The AK was cool, but just didn't get used much.

Well I sold my SKS to get my AK, so that pretty much sums it up.

I barely ever shoot my SKS anymore. AKs all the way, superior weapon. I just absolutely love my little SAR2 in 5.45x39. Usually my SAR1 tags along to the range too.

We'll I've only shot a SKS a couple times, but I don't see how much funner it could be than an AK. My Bulgarian AK actually has a better trigger than my Bushy AR, and those 30rd clips can't be beat. When I go rapid fire on my AK I feel like I'm in Boyz n the Hood or somthin'

AK. Mine is pretty accurate, so I got the rapid fire thing out of my system and now just fire it as I would an SKS. Doing this, too, a 30 round steel banana lasts a while. I had an SKS and my AK is more accurate. Course, my AK has a good poker hand in the serial number. Makes it lucky!

All in all pretty close so far. If my AK didn't have so much trigger slap, I would enjoy shooting it more. I could fix it but I am very lazy.

I am selling the Bulgarian AK, I think. Traded a $90 Makrov for it some years back. Got an offer of $600 for the rifle, and mags. I think its a gonner. I never shot it much anyway. Accurate, and totally reliable though.

I have two SKS rifles, One a Red Star arsenal, the other of Tula make. I have not shot either in over a year. I am pretty much sticking with the M1A and the new AR10B.

I have an SKS that I bought in 1991. I don't shoot it a lot but I am always impressed with how reliabe it is and how well it shoots. I bought a Romanian SAR 1 less than a year ago and it is already sold. Nothing personal, I just didn't like it.
