I don't know, really.
If you're starting with a Yugo SKS, that's a considerably heavier gun than the Norinco I started with. Yugos have thicker barrel contours all the way back to the receiver, then they have all those appliances hanging off the front of the barrel and gas block. No fun, plus you're removing the gun from C&R eligibility as soon as you start removing things.
For weight savings on my Norinco, I got rid of my front sight/bayo lug sleeve assembly, gas tube and handguard, and original Chinese Oingo-Boingo wood stock. I then replaced the missing parts with that minimalist finned gas tube, small-diameter muzzle brake, 5-round zytel magazine, and a Ram-Line synthetic stock. I could have saved more weight by using an aluminum scope, and skipping the brass deflector, but the idea was to make this a sub-MOA gun first, lightweight next. A lightweight HoloSight or C-More would save in the optics department, too. Regardless, the gun is useless without some form of optics, since I cleaned up everything forward of the gas block. Once I figure out a better way to attach that brass deflector, I'll grind off the rear sight assembly, contouring it better while still leaving the gas tube latch mechanism intact.
I've never found another muzzle brake like the one I put on my gun. It's had a place in my parts drawer for many years, ever since I picked it up at a gun show long ago. A machinist with a lathe and mill could probably crank one or two out in short order.
Somewhere in the garage I've got a Zebco fish scale. I'll have to dig it out and hang the Bubba98 Target SKS on it, and see what it weighs.
