How y'all doing? I have a quick question which SKS has the detachable magazine? :banghead: There are a lot of different models and variants of the rifle and I can't get an exact answer from anybody.

I believe the Chinese version does. Also people have reported the Tapco 20rd works pretty well on the other versions, but keep in mind it violates 922 if you do so without the full conversion.

Looked at a Saiga?

I believe the Chinese paratrooper models have the detachable magazines, but I'm not 100% on that.

Here is the skinny on SKS mags. There were two models of Chinese SKS that took AK mags. They were the SKS M and the SKS D. All other SKS rifles do not take AK mags without a lot of time in a machine shop. However, all SKS rifles other than the D and M model can take after market mags designed for the SKS. You can tell them apart from AK mags by the "duck bill" that sticks out from the front of the mag. To make an SKS take an after market detachable, you must disassemble the rifle and reassemble it without the mag in place. The after market mag then clicks into place and is removed using the stock mag catch. Tapco is probably the best maker of SKS mags out there. I have two of theirs and they worked fine without modification.
