I shoot this stuff all the time, it works good, and is cheap. And is much better suited for the job than FMJ.

Folks, pretty much anything worth using for defense is going to shoot through sheetrock. Sheetrock is thin, wimpy stuff. Anything that won't penetrate it is not going to have much effect on a perp either. Plan your home defense strategy accordingly.

IMO, SKS with hollow points or frangibles ($$$). Not soft points or FMJ's. Shotgun with buckshot or BB, best of all of course.

10/22 only if I had nothing else or was expecting an attack by rabid squirrels. BTW, most of those aftermarket 10/22 magazines are total crap and will make your 10/22 a jammamatic. I don't think 50 rounds of spray and pray makes sense in an apartment either.

But a frangible will turn into a burst of shot after the first one, and so won't keep going on through wall after wall after wall.

I actually have some personal experience with those. At a gun show, I bought two 30-round magazines for my 10/22. I couldn't get more than 15 or so rounds in them, and they did indeed turn my beloved 10/22 into a jam-o-matic. I took the magazine out once when it jammed and my dad couldn't get the ammo out of it, so he just tossed it. From now on, I ONLY use factory magazines. :banghead: Speaking of gun shows, I might be going to one soon. I'm thinking about picking up a box of Glazier ammo or something similar for my SKS there. Also, my dad has a gun nut friend who used to have an FFL, and has a huge gun collection. I'm hoping he can cut me a good deal on a .357 revolver, but I'm not holding my breath.
