SKS Paratrooper VRS Standard Rifle

What are your opinions on them ? I think I like the shorter paratrooper is it less accurate and have less FPS to make it inferior to the stadard SKS ?

NORINCO Paratrooper SKS rifles, 16, barrel,

They will have a minor drop in velocity but accuracy is not generally affected by shorter bbls. I think some Paratroopers will be more accurate than some standard length SKSs and vice-versa.

They are very handy and make the SKS into a true carbine. I don't have a Paratrooper yet but I have 9 other SKSs from 4 different nations. If you find a deal on one, buy it! They are nice and worth a little more than your average chinese SKS. I have been thinking about making my Norinco into a Paratrooper but it has a bayonet lug and I don't want to loose that. It is also all matching and original so I will find a beater to chop up if I decide to go that route. If I found a Paratrooper for a good price, I would buy that before I bought any other SKS right now.

I haven't noticed any drop in accuracy with mine compared to a standard SKS. And mine was in not so good shape when I found it. Made a good deal on it...replaced the stock...cleaned it up as best I could..and it works great.

Given the asking price for many I have come across...I wonder if the Saiga with the 16 inch barrel is something you might consider. I just had to have both...and I definately like the SKS (have 3)...but the Saiga is available brand new for in most cases less money.

I bought a new in the box preban paratrooper about 5 years ago...still own it and its never been shot. I have owned other Paras and they are great guns. There just as accurate as the full length rifle model, if you have a chance to buy one I wouldnt hesitate unless the price was ridiculusly high.
