I just put my used SKS on hold (10 day wait  ). It's the Cali-legal Yugo modified/imported by Century. It has no grenade launcher attachment, but it still has the grenade sights ;) and a bayo.

So I've notice the stocks really suck (dirty, greasy, ill-fitting). If I get a synthetic stock by Butler Creek, ATI, Ram-Line, or Choate will it place the sights higher when I cheek-weld? Would it affect reliability? Can I still use my bayonet? Is the LOP longer?

I'd be grateful to hear of any experiences with any stocks.

I've used the ATI stocks, both monte carlo and sporter, on a Chinese SKS, both were okay. The monte carlo was actually pretty good, added much needed length to the rifle. The sporter had a certain cool factor, but cheek weild is WAY low. They do make an attachment that fixes the problem, but I never tried it.

I have a FiberForce stock for my SKS and it sucks out loud. It does increase the LOP by about 2" but it is hell to shoot. I can shoot the original wooden stock all day long but the FiberForce stock wears my shoulder out in about 100 rounds.

gearbox, you might get lucky. I have a century cali yugo and the stock's not bad. It has a few dings but it looks good. Mark
