SKS....the affordable classic

I've scoped several SKSs in the past and it worked well BUT the accuracy just doesn't make a scope worthwhile.

Barns, unless you have the receiver drilled and tapped for the scope, I would ditch it. Go to iron sights and shoot 2 inch groups at 50 yds. and 4 inch groups at 100 yds. and be satisfied. ;)

Welcome aboard The Highroad!

:D Thanks for the good advice everybody.

I was planning on using the iron sights for up to 50-75 yards, but after that it all gets a bit too fuzzy for me. The mount is pretty solid, but then I haven't actually used the scope itself across multiple takedowns so, we'll see how that all pans out. At the very least I can use the scope to check my patterns at shorter distances! :)

:banghead: Should have posted here earlier... Maybe I'll hang onto it and throw it on something else (it is a pretty nice scope for a rifle-newb like myself).

Very good, Barns......

Just remember, with the rifle we're going for "groups"......"patterns" are for shotgunners! Good luck.

I have had a Norinco SKS for over 15 years now. With its K-Lock scope mount and 4X Simmons rubber armored scope it will shoot 1.5 MOA out to 100 or 150 yards. Of course it has its on ammo prefferences.
Recently I found a SKS Sporter that uses AK mags at the local Police Supply for $225.00. I did not have the money but it came home anyway as a Christmas present for my 10 year old boy.
