Hi y'all.

I just purchased a Ka-bar Heavy Bowie that I don't have a particular need for, I just wanted one. I love the blade size and shape, but the handle is just too wide across to be comfortable. I am actually considering returning it because of the handle width, but before I did I wanted to check here about the feasibility slimmimg down a Kraton knife handle without ruining it, by sanding or by some other means, and if any of you have ever performed such a task. I appreciate the help, thanks.

Sanding with a very coarse grit should work. I suggest using a belt instead of pad. Get the cheapest you can find because the kraton will clog the belt.

I don't know if I'd reduce the size, as the outside of the handle appears sealed?

I have one, and have smallish hands, and don't have a comfort issue.

really no issue with it being sealed - like hso said use something like an 80 grit - fo finer after you get it to shape - get some shoe dye at wally-world - polish it up - tom

Thanks for the replies. Actually, as I have handled it more it has gotten more comfortable, so even though I would prefer a slimmer grip I might decide to just live with as it is. But if I do decide to alter it y'all have given some good advice.
