Are they still being made? I heard they get good reviews (and are cheap [as in low-dollar] as crap).
Am I looking at outdated websites?
I'd like some general advice, etc.

They are Milled, but they are a bit more different than that. They started life as a thumbhole sporter, often with US made FCG's and muzzle attachment. They use the gas system of the AK-74 but are chambered for 7.62x39. Great rifles, one of the best AK's you can get, but they have not been produced in 10 years.

Expect to pay 600-800 for one. They are not cheap.

They are no longer imported but can be found if you're lucky. I've seen them sell for over a thousand at gun shows but those are usually over-priced, I paid $589 for mine last year. Its by far the greatest AK I've ever owned, a few compliant parts and you can ditch the thumbhole stock for a pistol grip. Seriously if I saw another for sale for under $700 I wouldn't hesitate to to buy it, they are 100% Bulgarian made and its just a shame they stopped importing them.

Mine came with all the original accessories, box and matching manual with quality certificate.

The day I bought my mini-30 (late October, 1998), I choose it over an SLR-95 'cause I didn't know any better.
I think the SLR was $380 or so, the Ruger was $390 (used):banghead:

I picked one up back in 2001 for $500. It was a shame to switch out such nice Bulgarian internals, but I did so I could ditch the thumb hole stock. (922r) Added a Kobra sight as well. Very accurate for an AK.

I bought mine February 1998 for I think $349. I immediately removed the ridiculous muzzle brake and just recently lost the ridiculous thumbhole stock after installing the U.S. compliant parts. As it was my first and only AK experience I couldn't understand what everyone was saying about the crappy accuracy of AK's but apparently the SLR-95 is head and shoulders above any other AK out there.
She is a keeper and even if I could get a $1,000 I wouldn't part with it.

I got my LNIB SLR-95 about 5 years ago for $400. I love my Tromix Saiga and Arsenal SLR-106FR, but this SLR-95 is a better made rifle. The trigger pull is fantastic, magazine fit in the mag well is perfect, the action cycles smooth as butter and it feels very, very rugged.

Given the price of other current Arsenal rifles, and the fact that this is a much better made rifle, I would think the SLR-95 is worth today $850-1150, depending on condition and conversion parts added.

I paid $550 for one unfired back in 2006. This was also my first AK experience. While I still have the rifle, I picked up a Polish Underfolder yesterday off of Auction Arms. I am sure they will be night and day. AK's are like 870's, You just can't have too many!
