Slug barrels

Hi,
Can anyone tell me if its ok to shoot buckshot through a rifled slug barrel?
If not, why not ?
Does it any effect on the pattern?

Should be ok, but the pattern is going to spread out alot.

It won't hurt the barrel. It will throw donut shaped patterns however, due to the spinning shot column.

If you 1)like donut-shaped patterns with holes in the middle, and 2)like scrubbing lead out of rifled barrels, you should have a great time with it.

Otherwise, not so much...

Lead .... how much leading would you get now days, seeing that most shotgun ammo now uses a plastic shot cup?

But in general, I agree you should be using a smoothbore for shot because of the pattern thing. (nothing like being DEAD ON ... and missing!)

That's what I wanted to know. I thought the spinning pattern might be effective for HD (close up and personal)
I might pattern it at different ranges just to satisfy my own curiosity
