i had a guy tell me that since i have a rifled slug barrel i need to shoot sabot slugs out of it. he said if i dont the rifling will collect lead from the regular slugs and it will start to shoot all over the place. what gives? i thought as long as they were rifled slugs i could shoot them out of my rifled slug barrel. and what about the cheapo slugs ive been using, brenneke ko or whatever, i put up like a 3 inch group off hand just screwing around the other day at 50 yards. i dont think my accuracy is suffering, maybe i havent shot enough cheap slugs through it yet.

As a loose rule, sabots do best in rifled barrels and rifled slugs in smoothbores. There are exceptions, of course.

I've seen a couple rifled barrels lead up badly with as few as 10 slugs. Elbow grease restored them to pristine condition.

It's up to you....

You could fire rifled slugs from your rifled barrel, but accuracy and performance would not be optimal. Use sabot slugs and call it a day.

wow, i will probably be very impressed if i use sabot slugs, i can shoot these cheap ones what i think is really really well. ill have to try that out.

As stated above, you can use rifled slugs, but why would you? At 50 yards using Sabots you should be able to hold 1 to 2 inch groups with no problems. The biggest benefit in using sabots is that you can have great accuracy out to100 - 150 yards. You can’t do that with slugs.
