I like the offices size 1911's but heard there are difficult to run reliable.
You heard wrong... I'm getting real close to acquiring Colt New Agent, hope it's similar in reliability to the Officer's.:)

I carry a Rock Island Armory Compact model, same size as a Colt Officer's ACP. No problems with it, but it was much happier after I put in a Wolff recoil spring.

The only issue that my stainless Officer's ACP has is with very hot loads. It runs 100% with factory charges. I've never had a problem with the Kahr P45.

anyone have experience with glock 36, kahr .45 or officer size 1911?
I liked the Glock 36 I rented, but not more than the Glock 19 I already had. No experience with the others.

You may wish to look into the S&W 457; it is about the same size and actually holds one more round than the Glock. The 4516 is of similar size, but heavier as it is totally stainless steel.

Not meaning to hi-jack this---rondog, What weight Wolfe recoil spring did you put in your RIA compact? Thanks, Buckshot Bill

I believe it's part #49022. 22 lb.

COLT OFFICER'S MODEL .45 ACP(Series 80)
COLT 1991 Compact, .45 ACP
Also...
Kimber Compact, .45 ACP
Para-Ordnance P-12, .45 ACP
Springfield Ultra Compact & V10, .45 ACP
As Noted

RECOIL SPRINGS from W. C. Wolff Company for the Colt Officer's Model series 80, are a single recoil spring design which replaces the original dual springs. The single recoil spring offers superior performance over dual springs which have a normal tendency to bind against each other as well as having a "mushy" feeling. The single spring offers crisp and reliable operation not usually found in dual spring systems. As with all Wolff load-rated recoil springs an extra power firing pin spring is included.

Full Diameter recoil springs are also for use in the Kimber Compact, Para-Ordnance P-12 and Springfield Untra Compact & V10 and the Colt Officers with full diameter/full length guide rods

WARNING: Do not use shock buffers with these springs.

Reduced Power...: 18.5 and 20 Lb.
Factory Standard.: 22 Lb.
Extra Power.........: 24 Lb.
For use with:
Stock No. 423xx....Colt Officers only - standard factory guide rods
Stock No. 490xx.....Full diameter guide rods (.330" OD)
Above Recoil Springs.....$ 7.89 ea

Please Note: Replace the "xx" in the stock number with the pound rating of spring

I have a Kahr P45 and have had three 3" Kimber 1911s (still have two). FWIW, I am wearing a Kimber Stainless Ultra Carry as I type this.

All have been perfectly reliable with a variety of ammo. The Kahr is about 6 oz lighter, but a hair larger in height and length. If you don't like external safeties, the P45 is for you. If you are a 1911 guy, enough said.

I like both. :)

My experience:
Firestar, heavy trigger pull.
Ultra Carry, long break in period 500 rds.+
SIG P245 :)

+1 on the PT145. I brag on this gun openly but the ergonomics are the best I have ever seen. Plus I still marvel that they fit 11 rounds of .45 into a pistol its size. Caveat: my friend bought one a consecutively numbered one when I bought mine and his has not functioned. Still, if he would send it in to Taurus, I bet he'd come out well.

Glock 36. I have carried it a little. It's a fine weapon and I'd trust it, but for some reason the 6+1 capacity is a turn-off for me.
