I have read where steam may lift a small dent. can this be done with a high gloss stock, with out removing the gloss finish. the ding appears to be about 1/64th deep pretty small but everytime i look at this gun, i see it... i have also looked into replacment stocks but i am haveing a hard time finding one with checkering.

This is very "iffy".
Steaming a dent out requires the steam penetrate the wood. With a gloss finish, this may prevent the stream from penetrating and it just won't work.
It's possible the steam could damage the finish.

Buying a new stock just because you have a dent is an expensive fix, and if you dent it again, you've just blown good money for nothing.

My suggestion is to just live with it, and if you can't look into having the stock refinished.

If the dent is only in the finish I've had good luck polishing the finish smooth with 1500wetsaning followed by polishing back to a high gloss with flitz.

I wouldn't steam a Browning high gloss. You'll dull or whiten the surrounding finish.
