I'm talkin small hand..and a lefty. Please help me kill 2 birds with one stone. What do you got??

Remember the Sons of Liberty!!!!!

How about a new Springfield Loaded? All of the new models come with ambi safety and they are a single stack design with trigger within easy reach. It looks big but actually feels very comfortable in a small hand, especially comparing to the new double stack designs. You have to try one yourself and see what I am talking about.

Hard to beat a 1911 with a short trigger. Since most come with long triggers nowadays for some reason, you can have the trigger swapped and the safety installed at the same time.

How about:

1. SIG P225: A single stack classic SIG with an available short trigger. Many describe the 225 as the SIG that fits the hand the best. People think SIGs are not lefty friendly, but I am lefty-capped and find the controls easy to manipulate.

2. Kahr K9: Great striker fired pistol with small size and same trigger pull every time. Lefty friendly to boot.

3, Any of a host of different .22LR pistols: slim grips usually, especially in the Browning and Ruger marques. The Beretta Neos also has a very small grip, but alas, not too lefty friendly.

The new HK P2000,which should hit US shores shortly, was designed as an ambidextrous handgun with dual slide releases and it has a narrow grip. This gun was mainly designed to be used by female German police officers ..The grip looks alot like a Walther P99.

As far as guns that are currently available, the HK P7M8 is ideal for what you need, but it is not cheap, starting at around $1,100 ...

The Walther P99 is more affordable and could very well be the gun that you are looking for.;)

I like Sigs. Decocking lever is operated by the trigger finger.

Don't overlook the CZ-75.

Most gun manufacturers have long since abandoned the southpaw market. S&W commissoned a study in the early 90's that suggested that since most lefties were liberals (or, was it that most liberals were leftists) gun manufacturers were better served by developing alternate markets. Example: golf clubs, but not for lefthanders!

As someone who is left-handed (and therefore in his right mind :D ) and smallish handed to boot, I can make a few recommendations:

CZ 85
Walther P99
Kel Tec P11
Sig P245 (forefinger decock, drop slide by tugging on it)
Single stack 1911 (I love the finger groove Houge grip on mine)

Big Handed Lefty

And I love my Sig !

I have a 239 in 9mm that is great. It took a short period to get use to but after that you fall in love. The decocker, slide release, and mag release can all be operated by you trigger finger. Sigs are great guns for leftys

Learn to shoot right handed. :D I did. Of course, it helped that I'm cross-dominant (left-handed, right eye dominant - ain't that screwed up?). You are pretty much limited to S&W autos, Glocks, maybe some ambi-equipped 1911s (Kimbers), or something double-action only (you can get Sigs setup like this). Hey, how about an H&K USP compact. The safety is ambi and it's easy to shoot. Also, I would suggest the Glock 19.

If the hands are really small, the 1911 user can benifit from thin grips.
A Browning HiPower may also do the trick.
Kahrs are good. The DAO design is right.

I second the Kahrs and BHP`s. I own both.

The gun manufacturers made a common mistake. The mistook the superior intelligence of left handers as a sign of liberalism. Sigh, it is a burden.;)

I'm left-handed and I find my P99 to be lefty-friendly, for the most part. I have to use my right hand to work the decocker, but that's not really a big deal; the mag release is within easy reach of my left index finger.

You've gotten some good suggestions so far. I've discovered that with practice I have been be able to manipulate RH controls just fine. The key for me was what fit my hand, what I was the most accurate with, intended use, and how I was going to carry it...availability of LH holsters, but with some digging they can be found.

For LH, medium hands, I've ended up with a P32, CZ75B, and a 97B. If ambi safeties are critical and if you're interested in CZs, look into the 75BSA in 9 or 40, the 85B, or the 83.

Those Springfield loaded models, Kahrs, and the others recommended previously are all worthy of investigation...

I'm pretty sure that a Glock doesn't care which hand you use.

Try the mini's (26, 27, 30, 32(?)) on for size. The slide release is on the left side of the slide, but you can also accomplsih release by pulling the slide to the rear slightly and releasing it.

There are a TON of good options available, though. Have you been to a range to try any/many in your hand?

Well, I fall in this category. My choices and experiences:

Sig P-239 9MM with short trigger -- narrow grip, comfortable to shoot. My most oft carried handgun. The mag release and decocker are on the left side (no safety), but it's easy to use your middle finger to release mags, and your trigger finger to decock (keep your finger off the trigger...). Biggest drawback for me is the 8 round capacity mag.

Kel-Tec P-11 with mag finger extensions -- nice, narrow grip. Again, mag release on left side, but easy to use middle finger. Takes a lot of dry firing to get good with the DAO trigger pull. My second most common carry handgun. Ten round capacity mag.

Ruger KP95DC -- I know this one sounds out of place, but I can comfortably shoot the Ruger all day long. The grip just plain feels right. Ambi mag release, but I use my left middle finger so I'm consistent with my other handguns. No safety, ambidextrous decocker. Actually a fair carry gun with a Comp-Tac Gurkha holster.

Glock 23 3rd gen -- basically the same size as the Ruger, but has an uncomfortable grip due to the finger molding of the grip. Grip is fatter, too. I like the gun and can shoot it well, but it doesn't get carried very often.

Springfield Armory Mil-Spec 1911 45 ACP -- another surprisingly comfortable grip and trigger reach/pull. Very easy to shoot. Left side mag release, slide release, and safety. The standard safety is a bear for us lefties. Definitely an OWB with a good belt for me.

Ruger Super Blackhawk Bisley 7 1/2 " 44 Mag -- :D What a great gun to shoot! Comfortable grip. Best sight radius of all. Limited 6 round capacity. I carry it in a wheelbarrow.

This has been discussed on several boards. Being in your boat (left-handed and small-handed), I've discovered there are several things that affect fit. One is the width of the grip. The second is the distance of the trigger from the grip. For example, the P99 has a narrow grip (small insert) but has a long trigger distance from the grip. The left-hand stuff os pretty obvious. The guns that have worked best for me are:

1911s with a short trigger, ambi safety and ultra thin grips

Hi-power with thin grips

Steyr M9 or M40

Kahr (I hate the snappy recoil)
