New member here (yes I introduced myself on the newbie thread) though I have been reading for almost 4 years, atleast. I am looking for a CCW and can't seem to find the right fit. I like and and very familiar with the Beretta M9A1 from my time in the military. I have also owned and carried a Glock 19, Sig P232, Ruger SP101 and LCR (357) and currently carry a Dimondback DB380. I hate to sound cliche, but I can pretty much pickup anyting and shoot it well. What I really want is a slightly smaller smaller single stack M9A1 to carry. And before this gets too far, I am an unemployed father of 2 going to school on the GI Bill with a working spouse. We make ends meet, but budget is an unplesant reality. I know my life and the life of my family has no price, but I don't have what I don't have and these days that is money. $500 is about my ceiling, $6oo if it is my idea of perfect. Any suggestions oh wise sages...???

I assume, since you like the M9, you like DA/SA triggers. Maybe a single-stack SIG P6 (police trade in) would suit you? You should be able to find one for well under your budget.

You'll have to buy used, but S&W made the 10 round, single Stack, aluminum frame, 3913 (stainless) & 3914 (blued) single stack versions of their 59xx double stack pistols. The 3953 (stainless) & 3954 (blued) are the smaller 8 round single stack versions (also with aluminum frames). Control layout & grip angle are identical to the M9/92FS. Most of the TSW (Tactical Smith & Wesson) suffix versions of the above (i.e. 3913TSW) have a rail on the dust cover. The TSW frames & slides were also machined as matched sets (according to SCSW 3rd Ed. by Supica & Nahas). The TSWs I've personally handled tend to be tighter & better fitted than other 3rd gen S&Ws. The standard 3rd gen S&Ws are already pretty tight & very well fitted.
