The other night the gun shop about a 1/4 mile from my house has converted to a drive through by folks who may be the same ones who have done about 3 or 4 other smash and grab jobs in central florida. They smashed through the concrete wall instead of the door I think in an attempt to enter through the safe, but they were on the wrong side of the building.

So last night I go to the range- about a mile further down the road, and they have new 6" concrete filled pipes infront of the store. Things are getting crazy around here!!!!

Is this happening anywhere else?

Is this happening anywhere else?

Has for sometime, and I am going back to when I was a kid in the 50's.
It was going on before I was born...
Stolen wreckers are popular, especially the old style where vehicles are "towed", unlike the new "carriers" that vehicles "ride atop".

I lost a safe once, stolen wrecker backed up over the curb, through the plate glass windows, pushed show cases aside, hooked up the safe and gone in no time.
City Street, parallel parking for customers...just no vehicles in the wee hours.

Safe taken to remote area, burn bar and other tools used, safe loaded into a stolen van and...
that is where the safe was found - empty.

One fellow with his gun store location put in the cement post inside the store as well. Just covered up/ disguised.

Smash and Grab in the context of BGs on foot, taking a tire tool, busting showcases and yelling...
Yeah, that is unnerving too.
Especially when they have guns, and make intentions real clear.

These are some of the oldest MOs on the book:

-the "Original Drive Thru with an Order to Go"
- Scare the crap out of folks busting glass , yelling, with pointed guns...grab and run with the getaway driver ready at the wheel.

Incidentally,

This is why whomever has keys to the business and alarm code will park sideways with drivers door to storefront in they enter after hours.

1. More secure to exit vehicle, enter business, get what they went after, exit business and get back into vehicle.

2. Prevents a BG from driving INTO business knowing the alarm is off and someone inside can access mdse.

Do NOT park head on, or back up to door. BGs will be able to push your vehicle into the business.
Sideway parking prevents this little BG trick. ;)
