Well guys, I finally got to the range today with that Smith I picked up a week ago. I am absolutely impressed beyond belief ! I shot off the bench @ 15 yards, revolver support used, using American Eagle 45g. CPRN subsonic 970 fps ammo. I shot 12 rds. to see where I was hitting before I touched the rear sight, it was hitting LFT of dead center by 3/4", so I moved the sight 3 clicks RT. Once I saw where it was hitting, I shot 36 more rds. , using the 6' O'clock hold. All rds. punched a single hole, a quarter would cover at that distance. This revolver will undoubtedly shoot better than I can, but hey, first time out with this outfit ! I was having problems seeing the sights, the black rear sight, black front sight, shooting from a shooting stall, no overhead lighting, just ambient light, my old eyes not what they used to be, but still very, very impressed. Guess after this session, I might fingernail polish the front sight , give me and it another shot when the wind quits blowing here. Nice shooter.

Don't look at the rear sight,, or the target.

Only focus on the front sight.
Your old eyes will automatically align the out-of-focus rear sight & target without you trying to do it.

Your eye can only focus at one distance at any one time, no matter how old or young they are.

Bright Paint will come with it's own accuracy spoiling problems.
Namely sun glair from different angles during the day changing the apparent POI on target.

Flat Black is good!
If you focus only on it and not try to look at the rear sight, front sight, and target all at the same time.

That won't work.
For anyone, of any age.

Thanks rc, I failed to remember that important item, too busy trying to bust rims first time out. Appreciate you knowledge, you always come through.

I use "Whiteout" on the back of my front sights. It really helps me when shooting indoors. My eyes just aren't what they used to be but still have fun shooting.

I've got some bright orange nail polish I've used before, may try this too. First time shooting this revolver, just got it a week ago, new experience.

As RC said your eye can only focus at one distance and that needs to be the front sight. If you're target shooting and want to shoot tiny groups make sure the black of the target appears to be the same width as the front sight at whatever distance you want.
Then while you're focusing on the front sight it'll be easier for you to center the blurry black dot over the sight.
Also while you dont want to focus on the rear sight you can be cognosante of the gap on either side and the alignment of the tops. Then you just need to get this perfect sight picture to stay aligned until the bullet leaves the barrel.
