Hello,
Does anyone who has a Smith 986 know if the firing pin is hollow? Just noticed it after cleaning the gun. I have cleaned it a few times before and never noticed it until now. I have about 500 rounds of factory ammo through it without any problems. Got the gun home and started to clean it and thought my eyes were playing tricks. None of my other Smith revolvers have a hollow firing pin. I sent a few pictures with the post. I will call Smith tomorrow and see what they say. Just wanted to asked someone tonight. Maybe Smith is trying to cut down on the weight? That was a joke. Thanks.

So I never did call S&W. I found an extra solid firing pin I ordered awhile ago and installed it. Took it to the range Sunday without any issues. 220 rounds of 9mm goes really fast in moon clips. I load them ahead of time and keep on shooting. I will say the only brass that doesn't work with the moon clips is Winchester White Box. Tough to load them onto the clip. slightly more brass on their 9mm case? It will twist the moon clip and wont seat correctly. Federal, CCI and Magtech all work great. I use moon clips from MidWayUSA.
